This herbaceous plant is native to Asia, Europe and North Africa. Its tasty seeds are used as a condiment, like cumin. It is also often confused with this one, some even call it "Cumin of the meadows".
Its notes of anise and verbena make it easy to use.
More commonly used on fresh goat's cheese or munster, caraway is also used to flavor white fish, salads and also charcuterie. In Alsace it is customary to use it for the preparation of sauerkraut. Caraway is also used in the preparation of certain breads or pies.
