Description
Siltimur pepper
Lindera Neesiana
Origin: Nepal
Net volumes and weights: 50ml / 35g / 1.23oz
This berry from Nepal is incorrectly called “siltimur pepper” or sometimes “lemon pepper”, it does not belong to the piperaceae family.
The dominant smell is lemon and lemongrass, which develops great freshness with a very marked fruitiness. In the mouth little spiciness and no anesthetic effect, only an intense taste, citrus zest, lemon, mandarin, candied citron, there are also spicy, camphorated notes and a minty touch evoking eucalyptus . In the finish a light and pleasant bitterness.
Usage tips
The lemony notes make this spice suitable for use with seafood, white fish, shellfish and crustaceans. It will be at ease with poultry and white meats, as well as steamed vegetables. For dessert you can dare to use it with red fruits, ideally with strawberries, pineapple and watermelon.
